These Elite Pro XS700 Hockey Skate Guards protect your skate edges from hard surfaces as well as protecting your things from your skates scratching/ripping them. They have a groove in the base foam of the guard that hugs the blade and makes it so the guard doesn’t slip around on the skate if you’re walking in them. The bottom also has a rubberized strip for extra traction. The elastic holds the guards on my size 10 hockey skates very well. The fabric seems like good quality nylon on the outside, with fleece like material around the elastic and top of the inside and then nylon over foam at the base of the inside where the skate blade goes into the groove. Construction and materials seem high quality.
The internal fabric is impregnated with “VCI” which is a chemical that should reduce corrosion on the skates. Still, you should probably wipe dry the skate blades before putting the guards on.
It also comes with a little pocket honing stone and case for it. You can run this along the side of the blade to take out small nicks in the edge in between sharpenings (never use this flat on the edge of the blade).
