Lock Pick Set

This is a great set for learning how to pick simple locks. The picks are decent quality and the transparent lock is really nice. I’ve never picked a lock before (but I am familiar with the mechanics of it) and with the transparent lock I was able to successfully pick it within a few minutes. Then the second time in under a minute, and a third in just 20 seconds. It is great for learning what you are feeling through the pick is actually doing. Being able to see which pin you are moving and which pins are set is a huge advantage. A real lock is certainly much harder and will take a decent amount of practice on the practice lock to be able to do quickly, but this set will help you get there.

The kit comes with a variety of picks. I used one of the picks with a slight hook at the tip to do the practice lock. I’ll have to read online what each is used for. There’s no guide included but lockpicking guides can be found for free online (search for MIT lockpicking guide) so that’s not a big deal.

The case for the picks is my only real criticism. It could be nicer, but for the price it serves its purpose just fine.

This lockpicking set is currently available for $12.97 on amazon: http://amzn.to/20kS0b5

Full Disclosure: I received this at a discount in exchange for my honest review.
