This is not just an electric controlled pressure cooker. It is also a Rice Cooker, a Steamer and a Slow Cooker.

To test it out I used both the Pressure Cooker and Rice Cooker features. First I made some rice. I used the included measuring cup to put equal parts of water and rice into the pot, closed the lid and pressed the rice button. A short while later (I forgot to set my timer to get an exact time, but it was about 15-20 mins) I had perfectly cooked white rice. The consistency was just like it comes from Chinese takeout so it passed that test. It also came with a rice spoon which works great for getting the rice out of the pot. Cleanup was easy, just remove the inner pot and clean with soap and water. The inner pot can be put in the dishwasher, but I just cleaned it by hand.

I also made pot roast in it to test the pressure cooker setting. Normally, I’d slow cook a pot roast for a few hours so I was curious how quickly the pressure cooker would do it and if it would be the same texture. I put in the pot roast and water and a few carrots and chunked potatoes, closed the lid and pressed the “Meat/Stew” button. After 30 mins of cooking I put a cold damp cooking towel over the lid and turned the pressure release (it warns that liquid can spray out the top if cooking something liquidy). After the pressure equalized I opened the lid and checked it. The vegatables were a little bit too done (but still fine) and the pot roast wasn’t quite done. I pulled the veggies out, closed the lid and put the meat back on for 15 mins. This time the meat was perfect. So from 3 hours+ to less than one is a huge improvement!

The Ivation cooker will be replacing my rice cooker, crock pot and stovetop pressure cooker (which never gets used). As an added bonus it makes cute little sounds when you take the lid off and put it back on 🙂
