The Careful Gardener Garden Hose Spray Gun is a great hose attachment. It has 9 different spray patterns and the selector has a really sturdy click action stop on each one. The nozzle didn’t leak at all when the hose was pressurized (side note: don’t over tighten your garden hose attachments, they have a rubber washer that actually does the sealing and if you compress it too much it can actually cause leaks). See the video below for a demonstration of all the spray patterns. I really like their “Full” mode which seems to be missing from a lot of hose sprayers which lets you fill up a bucket pretty quick. It also has your usual more gentle spray settings for watering plants. Like most sprayers of this design it has a thumb screw on the back to control how much flow is allowed when you squeeze the handle.
It also comes with a shut off valve that you can add to your hose to make it easier to turn on and off. I use these on all my hose outlets already because 1/4 turn valves are a lot faster and less prone to leaking than gate valves (the kind you turn around many times to open/close). This would be quick to add on to your existing valve, just leave the twist valve open and use this shutoff to turn the water on and off.
It’s all plastic but seems sturdy dispute that. It can actually be a benefit as plastic doesn’t corrode. This is probably how they can offer a lifetime warranty on it. As long as you don’t leave it out in freezing temperatures it should last a long time.
At the time of this posting the sprayer and shutoff valve kit are available for $16.99 at amazon: http://amzn.to/1SeAfc0
Here’s a video demonstrating the spray patterns (sorry about the wind noise):
