Large cubes take a long time to melt and don’t water down drinks as much. The 2 inch size is the perfect maximum size for a pint glass or double old fashioned glass. The reinforced rim gives it some sturdiness so it doesn’t flop around as much when full. Because it’s silicone though you don’t get perfect cubes, the outsides bulge out as the ice freezes. This wasn’t a big deal to me but if you’re looking for perfect squares this won’t make them. The great benefit of silicone is that you can turn the cubes completely inside out to get the ice out effortlessly. If you’ve ever struggled to pop ice out of a plastic tray, you don’t know what you’re missing.
