When I moved my office chair to an area with wood floor I replaced my castors with polyurethane ones because they are softer than the stock hard plastic and won’t scratch wood floors. These big rollerblade style castors are better than the castors I had replaced mine with. The PVC material is soft like polyurethane so it too won’t scratch the floor and the big 3″ wheels make it easy to roll around.

One thing I would have liked to have seen is a real bearing where the axle goes through the wheel. It’s just plastic on a metal shaft. It works well enough, but a bearing would have reduced rolling resistance even more. The swivel bearing has a little more play than I’d like but once they were on the chair I didn’t really notice.

They were easy to install. Just pull the old castors off and push the new ones on. I did have to squeeze the copper retaining ring on one of the castors to get it in, but it was still pretty easy.
